Through years of consulting
with clients all over the world, the Pinnacle Business Group, Inc. has
developed an understanding of what makes a consultant/client relationship
work, and this understanding comes to every engagement. The Pinnacle Business
Group assists organizations in solving their business and system challenges
with our unique, proven approaches. We bring teams of business and system
personnel together to jointly define business and system requirements.
The teams are led through a series of facilitated activities to provide
innovative solutions to their business and system challenges. Our analysis
addresses the three critical areas for any Enterprise: business, information,
and organization. The Company concentrates on transferring its knowledge
to its clients by participating in programs such as Enterprise Architecture
engagements, Business Process Engineering, Business Process Visualization,
Organization Network Analysis, Organization Development, Analysis
engagements, Education, Methodology implementation, and Consulting.
Enterprise Architecture
As has been said in
many different contexts, thinking about where your Enterprise wants to
be is the first step in getting there. Enterprise Architecture provides
a blueprint of where the organization is, and where it would like to be.
Through the use of models, the Enterprise develops a roadmap to get there.
Services are available to support the development of business and systems
plans, ranging from Enterprise wide plans to program specific plans. These
services analyze the business unit or program organization, and develop
strategies and plans for systems that support the organization's business
objectives. Our Enterprise architecture activities are guided by the Zachman
Framework for Enterprise Architecture. Samuel Holcman, the President of
Pinnacle Business Group, and John Zachman, author of the Framework, formed
the Zachman Institute for Framework Advancement (ZIFA).
Business Process Engineering
Its not Re-Engineering,
- its Engineering. The "Re" prefix means return or backwards
- just the opposite of what you want to do in this type of activity. This
is not semantics. Business Process Engineering is an approach that enables
an Enterprise to define and understand its business processes, organizations,
strategies, and technologies to achieve improvements in operating results.
This approach comes from an understanding of engineering and organization
development principles that are combined to form a cohesive and practical
approach to engineering business activities. The two unique concepts employed
in Business Process Engineering are Business Process Visualization,
and Organization Network Analysis.
Business Process Visualization
Understanding the processes
and process flows within an organization, through the eyes of the business
practitioner - that's Business Process Visualization. In researching and
practicing Business Process Engineering, we have learned that business
people think best within their domain. If they are used to interacting
with paper forms, then we analyze through paper forms. If they use computer
screens, then the analysis is done through these screens. This is what
Business Process Visualization is all about. Each process then goes through
a four step procedure: Visioning, Analyzing, Implementing, and Evolving.
Organization Network Analysis
Networks of relationships
that people form across functions, divisions, formal organizations, and
locations to accomplish tasks fast and efficiently. A simple definition
of how organizations actually accomplish tasks, and the definition of
Organization Network Analysis. These "informal" organizations,
as we call them, are the keys to Business Process Engineering. It is beyond
doubt that the formal organization and the organization chart will change
through Business Process Engineering. It is also beyond doubt that the
informal organization will also change. But most organizations don't know
where they exist or how they will change. But they are there. Four types
of informal organization networks have been identified and are crucial
to any Business Process Engineering effort - the Advice Network, the Trust
Network, the Communication Network, and the Survival Network. Organization
Network Analysis provides techniques to best capture the essence of these
networks and the organization.
Organization Development
Fundamental to Business
Process Engineering, is Organization Development. Organization Development
is concerned with helping managers plan and implement change in organizations.
The underlying purpose is to enhance the effectiveness of the organization
as a whole, as well as understand the needs of the members of the organization.
The approach to Organization Development is multi-dimensional, with no
one single approach being appropriate for all organizations. The Pinnacle
Business Group's research in Business Process Engineering has led to a
unique understanding of organizations and the processes they perform.
This has resulted in an Organization Development approach that has four
characteristics: (1) it understands significant change, (2) it meshes
with the organizations values, (3) it has a continuous life cycle,
and (4) it is process oriented.
Analysis Engagements
Analysis, as well as
Enterprise Architecture, requires members of a team to interact to get
an understanding of the problem at hand. Using joint application design
(JAD) techniques, a team of subject matter business experts and systems
personnel interact in workshop sessions to analyze a business area. The
process uses diagrams to precisely define and display the analysis definitions.
Education
The Pinnacle Business
Group can also provide education and training in the aforementioned areas,
as well as education and training in facilitation techniques.
Methodology Implementation
We architected and
conceptualized ForeSight, the most imitated development methodology
used by organizations today. We know how to implement methodologies in
your organization to make them "stick". With a heavy emphasis
on understanding the development organization and its culture, we can
design a program to make your methodology implementation effective and
efficient.
Consulting
Our strength and understanding
of business problems comes from the number and varied engagements we have
been involved in. Our experiences and expertise can offer your program
team guidance, assistance, reassurance, or simply an "insurance policy"
on major engagements. Where is our unique expertise? It is in understanding
how to best structure problems, interact with organizations, and arrive
at innovative solutions.
